Genuine Smiths
Smiths, well known as clock
and watchmakers, supplied watches for fitting to cars. They
developed a speedometer in 1904 then tapped into the rapidly
growing market for motoring instruments and related items.
In 1914 S Smith & Sons (motor Accessories) Ltd. was formed to
take over the motor accessory business and this grew to be the
main company in what later became the Smith Group.
